A lot of the instructors on Peloton will call members out by their usernames to recognize them for something.

“Hey Phillymom1985, let’s go!”

“Keep at it Deep_Blue_From_Idaho!”

My son wants me to change my name to “All_You_Disgusting_Fat_People”

It's interesting to me that old people and fat people are still generally socially acceptable to laugh at and denigrate, both conditions not necessarily in one's control.

If you're not fat you basically have no chance of dying from covid, even if you're older. It's pretty ridiculous that any messaging about a healthy lifestyle is off limits to the public health weirdos because we're supposed to believe disgusting cows like Tess Holliday are beautiful models.

Why use the word "disgusting"? Because you're not sexually attracted to her? Wouldn't it feel good to see the the beauty in all human beings?

i was watching a youtube of jack black discussing his most notable roles recently, including shallow hal. the scenes with gwenyth paltrow in the fat suit seemed like another era.

What goes through your mind if you're flipping through the channels and land on my 600 pound life tree?

Some people, like verb, like to argue that it's unhealthy and they need to whip their disgusting bodies into shape. But how does a person without requisite motivation just all of a sudden possess all the tools needed to be healthier? I think compassion is important. You just don't know what it's like to be somebody else.

That they need medical attention and I have sympathy for them.

Do you have the same sort of sympathy for any vax or mask people?

I have sympathy for their mental condition(s), yes.

I don't like being around fat people because they are unaesthetic. I only surround myself with beautiful women. And I don't own any mirrors.

What does sympathy accomplish though? Shouldn't you want to educate and hope the conditions improve? You're allowed to do that with covid safety but not for fats if you are employed as a public health weirdo.

It seems like Verb and tree agree here in principle and I do too.

I think a better comparison is fat people and smokers. People are free to judge smokers as idiots but fat people are largely off limits for scorn.

What do you guys think is the answer? Education? Fast food and sugar taxes? Maybe even government incentives for people to get healthy? It would benefit us all as a society for people to be healthier, but how do you actually make it happen?

A lot of things would need to change, including a complete restructuring of American cities.

There will always be lazy people and people who are willing to trade ten years of their life for the enjoyment of salted meats. It would be interesting to see what changes when people aren't poor as fuck though.

If you tax unhealthy food aren't you just pricing people out of the only stuff they can afford? It's expensive to eat healthy.

tree must listen to NPR. The guests on the show I was listening to yesterday made a pretty good argument that fat people are discriminated against in employment, which should never happen. One had a story about a doctor that refused to touch her during an examination, which should also not happen.

One also complained that someone took their blood pressure 3 times because they couldn't believe that was normal. I don't see why that's a problem among polite people. An obese person is WAAAY more likely to have high blood pressure then a non-obese person. A medical assistant should check their work. I wouldn't want my doctor to shrug off unexpected results.

You can't force people to find them attractive, but if fat people want people to stop pointing out their weight, pitying them, or calling them out as unhealthy, that's fine.

There was a person talking about airplanes. People complain loudly in front of her to airline staff and ask for her to be thrown off the airplane. I think that's a pretty shitty thing to do, but if I'm on a plane, and you're mashed up against me because you don't fit the seat, don't expect joyful conversation out of me.
