See, I didn't listen to PJ until 2006 when Avocado came out, so these "iconic, status defining" songs are not so necessarily iconic or status defining to me.

And halfway

Shut the fuck up you newbie you jumped in for PJs worst record ever and therefore have no balls or an opinion. Ever.

Why though Stip?

Is it musical or mythology surrounding its placement and importance in shows?

I'm still halfway convinced that this song is the result of someone who is musically very capable making fun of Pearl Jam, on a level no more serious than, say, Tenacious D.

Fuck that noise. There is no way Avocado is worse than Backspacer.

The shows aren't that important to me. I think the music is gorgeous, and it has what may well be eddies best vocal

Wow. Ok. I can get on board with that.

But just this week you have rattled on about lyrical importance.
So I'll do this again.

It kinda sounds like a frog impression to me, at times.

I think any song with the lyric potato wave would have to move up at least 10 points in anyone's rankings

I can't stand this one live, and I had convinced myself at one point that I genuinely disliked it. Then a few years ago I let the studio version play through when it came on the radio, and having not listened to it in years, I was really taken aback by how beautiful it was. I still virtually never go out of my way to play it (and have no desire to ever hear it live again), but when it comes on, I pretty much always enjoy it.
