Updated the thread title to reflect what I think I was going for all along...songs that fit the mold of a jangly guitar. Think R.E.M., Real Estate, Flying Nun bands, and most 80s college radio.
I'll start.
i like Alex G, or (Sandy) Alex G. I think he and his band are pretty fucking talented.
here's one of his unreleased songs i recently heard.

I have nothing to add, except for that the thread title reminded me of the recording artist 'Cry Wank'. He once said in an interview that his mother chooses to refer to him as 'Tear Jerk', which is adorable and hilarious.

I agree with 'snatch that I am totally unsure as to what really qualifies/belongs in this space, but I'm more than happy to play along.
I'm pretty sure it was snc that turned me onto The Rutabega - I think they qualify. This is Turn On the Summer:

heck yeah, higgs. that song definitely belongs here, and is in my wheelhouse.
i'd say stuff from flying nun, captured tracks, most of the DIY/lo-fi stuff you'd find on Bandcamp would go here.
thanks for joining in...keep 'em coming y'all.

i think drugdealer qualifies, as does raincoats and vf. bedroom pop is kind of misleading, honestly. i just used that term because a lot of bandcamp--where alex g sort of blossomed--is made up of artists recording everything in their home, and they're providing all the instrumentation, etc...very DIY, no studio.

I haven't listened to Real Estate in quite some time. I had tickets to see them in Birmingham years ago but was really depressed that week and my car had been acting up and i'm sure now had I gone my car would have broken down far far away but still bummed I missed it
