King of the Hill

Post by tree_ »

I never really got into this show until the past couple months on paternity leave. It's so great. I'm about halfway through the series. Any other fans around these here parts? We can share an Alamo beer and talk about the good days. Yup.

Yes! I recommend you start from the beginning. It's on Hulu, FX (from where I've been recording episodes in order), and Adult Swim. I think FX is the only one that plays them all in order.

It's a very wholesome show except when
Spoiler: show
Dale's wife is banging John Redcorn.

Hank is debilitatingly wholesome, conservative and uptight, and it's hilarious seeing him stress-tested by the outside world, most frequently by his own son, the aspirational prop-comic/clown.

Boomhauer is probably my favorite, Dale least, though I do appreciate the writing, I just get tired of his crazy idiotic conspiracy-nut story arcs. Although there was one episode centered on him where I laughed real hard out loud. Only time I did that during this show so far.

It's a real shame Brittany Murphy is dead. Luanne is so great. I hope they just kill her off and not get some other voice actor.

Actually, now that I think about it, Tom Petty is dead too! Maybe Lucky and Luanne died together and their kid is a new character. I'd like to see Bobby as like a 16 year old or maybe even grown up now.

I love this show more than The Simpsons or Seinfeld.

I wasn't expecting this from any of you, though right now I'm inclined to agree. If Seinfeld didn't have the laugh track and were a little less silly, it'd be closer.

I've only watched a handful of eps for some reason and every time I've loved it. Actually caught the one where Bobby joins the Bible thumping skateboard gang this past weekend. Hilarious. I need to start binging this show.

One of the all time greatest shows.

You haven't lived until you've played the King of the Hill drinking game along with it:
Spoiler: show
Every time someone says "yup," "uh-huh," or "yo" take a drink.

Whenever drinking in the alley is shown, take 2 drinks.

Every time someone says "propane" take a drink.

When Boomhauer goes on a ramble, start drinking when he starts and keep going until his ramble is over.

Whenever Dale talks about a government conspiracy take 2 drinks.

Every time Bill cries or gets sad take a drink.

If someone says "I tell you what" (usually Hank) take 3 drinks.

Every time Joe Jack says "Honey" take a drink.

Whenever Buck says "Old Top" take a drink.
