This was the first episode of the season that felt intense and dark to me. Episodes 1-3 felt more lighthearted, almost comedic (in a good way).
In any case, I'm enjoying it as always, it can be a little ridiculous but I love when they lean into the over-the-top aspects and the (literally, in this episode) flowery visuals

Wow, that last one was not an easy watch. Good to see an episode focus on one character; it’s meandered about too much this season. The previews make it seem like there’s more Nate/Cassie melodrama to come but who cares about that storyline compared to Rue’s? Her plot is about to get even darker and depressing.
Last night´s episode was beautiful. I loved how Levinson mixed the play, the memories and the stuff that was more recent.
Loved seeing Lexi so bossy and rude behind the stage too.
Good episode; next week’s finale appears to pick up immediately. The stage setting surprisingly made it beautifully shot. Didn’t feel like a realistic high school play but that was never the point.
I might go back and watch season 1. It’s been three years and to be honest I glossed over parts. This season started out muddled but has held my attention much better in the back half.
Regarding the spoiler above I will comment on that after the finale.
After enjoying the play part of last week’s episode part two was way too over the top melodrama. It settled down in the last twenty minutes to wrap the season.
The Fez plot line though got pretty tense there for a while. So he didn’t die, just got arrested?
I thought after episode five Rue would be in a much worse situation.
Yeah, we didn’t see too much of Jules this season. She seemed to be a breakout character the season but definitely took a step into the background.
It does have its own visual feel. Sometimes the saturation or lens work feels overdone but when it works it’s fantastic.
Mixed bag of a season overall with five being the easy pick of a standout episode.
I've never watched this show. For some reason I thought it was an oppressively serious Zoomer Requiem for a Dream type show or something but after stumbling on the season 3 trailer it looks like a 90's Tarantino rip like....I don't know....2 Days in the Valley? I have whiplash!
