Relatively easy vote.

Fatal is fine, but it's never struck a chord with me. I'd take it over a few songs on Binaural, but it wasn't the revelation Sad was at the time.

Man of the Hour legit made me cry the first few times I heard it. Great sentiment, powerful song, but there are elements of it that don't quite live up to its full potential - moments that feel too loud, almost jarring, that kind of break the spell. Having said that 'tidal waves don't beg forgiveness/crash then on their way' is maybe the best opening lyric in the catalog?

But I will gladly go to the wall for Mind Your Manners. It is an admittedly generic main riff, but that is easily offset up excellent (and misunderstood/underappreciated) lyrics, one of Eddie's most committed vocal performances on 3-4 records, a bad ass intro, wonderful chorus/bridge, excellent kitchen sink solo, and awesome outro. This song is amazing. One of the best fast songs in the catalog.

I still maintain the opening riff of MYM is the best thing they’ve done in the last 10 years.

The solo is one of Mike’s very best as well. But the lyrics are dog shit.

Stip, I am.

"Do you like the song abbreviated MYM?"

I do not like it, Stip I am.

"Would you like it here or there?"

I would not like it here or there
I would not like it anywhere
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am.

"Would you like it at a show?
Where you can feel that sweet Jamily energy flow?"

I would not like it at a show
If I knew they would play it, I would not go!
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am.

"Would you like it if it was differently mixed?"

I would not like it if it was differently mixed
Some mistakes just can't be fixed!
I would not like it at a show
It's still the same damned song, you know!
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am.

"Do you think it could be saved
By a different drummer, like Jack or Dave?"

Jack couldn't save this song, no way
Neither could EITHER Dave -- A *or* K!
I would not like it at a show
I hate it -- live OR studio!
I would not like it here or there
I would not like it anywhere
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am!

"Would you, could you like it more
Than a one-off song from a movie score?
Would you, could you throw it a bone
Over a mopey B-side, written by Stone?"

I would not, could not choose this racket
Over ANY song in this tournament bracket!
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am!!

"Try it, try it again, KD!
Try it, try it, and you will see
Listen, one more time, KD
You will hear it differently."

Stip, if you will let me be
I will listen again, and perhaps will see...

Spoiler: show
I listened again...and I do NOT see!
Don't tempt me, I'll say it -- IT LACKS AGENCY!!
Even with a different drummer
It still would be a major bummer!
And even if it was differently mixed
It still should have been 86'ed!
I do not want it at a show
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
I would not like it here or there
I would not like it anywhere
I do not like the song abbreviated MYM
I do not like it, Stip I am!!!!

Absolutely horrified at the speed with which Kd was able to pull that together

Me too. In fact, if the clock is running out and MotH has more votes than Fatal but is losing to MYM, I will switch my vote.

I really like all of these songs. Mind Your Manners has become my easy favorite from Lightning Bolt; Mike's solo on that track is probably my favorite solo by him since All or None's conclusion. I think there's been a few times they've really captured the precision and energy the song needs; I remember that Colbert performance knocked me out when I saw it.

Man of the Hour's opening riff is a great table-setter; it captures the feel the song's going to main throughout. It surprises me that it was written on-demand for a movie, as it feels so naturally in Eddie's wheelhouse. But Fatal's my choice; it's devious in its simplicity, catchy but obtuse, and then Stone's ast few lines (and the starkness with which Eddie delivers them) cuts straight through you.

Voting Fatal here, but will happily hop over to Man of the Hour to defeat MYM.

That was a mic drop post. Despite my unending respect for your music taste, you will never have a greater post.
