The Fixer vs. Help Help vs. Education

Yeah yeah.

Fuck I love the fixer. Nothing like it in the catalog. I wish they'd rerecord it with slightly less scratchy vocals, though. Great riff, great energy, great performances, love the lyrics.



Help Help is pretty cool live but I've always kind of snoozed through it on riot act. I used to like Education but I can't remember the last time I sought it out.

yea The Fixer gets an unnecessary bad rap around these parts. Its pretty wonderful how ed was able to take such a goofy riff (especially that verse guitar riff) and turn it into such a catchy song.

Me and Stip generally agree on backspacer being a great record (though i haven't listend in quite some time) but i hate just about all his other PJ takes....

Fixer for the win!

This is a Sophie’s choice match for me. Today I’m feeling the church-pulpit-in-flames outro of Help Help more than the pogo stick bounce of The Fixer. It could easily change on a different day.

Education is a bad song.

Help Help and it's not even close.

I do so love the awkward swirl of "Help Help." One of the few Pearl Jam songs that I think really benefits from the heavy use of organ. I've come to enjoy "The Fixer" as time goes on, which is damn impressive considering I wrote the band off for several years after this song was the lead Backspacer single. There are strange charms to its unabashed pop sensibilities. "Education" is a minor song that I've never really been able to get a strong handle on. The weird shuffling rhythm and massed vocals give it an odd sense of momentum, and I'm glad it exists in the catalog even if I've never been really drawn to it. "Help Help" gets the nod.

Education or The Fixer. Dislike Help, Help.

This is Education for me.

Education and The Fixer have never made it past round 2.

Help Help's best performance was a top 32 loss against Off He Goes in 2016.
