Cold Confession should have been on self titled. perfect way to end the album. its one of their best unreleased tracks

Love Boat Captain.

CC and LBC are pretty good. I have fond memories of CC that tip it over.

Cold Confession has yet to make it past round 2.

LBC has a coupla top 32 finishes - in 2010 and 2019.

Don't Gimme No Lip is a 2nd round maxer.

Don't Gimmie No Lip is a lot of fun for what it is. Glad it is on Lost Dogs where it can be enjoyed without taking up proper album real estate (a la Sweet Lew. Honestly it's what should have happened to Mankind. Not that Black Red Yellow is more essential, but I would have preferred it on the record)


Love Boat Captain is a bit of a misfire for me. On paper it is almost everything I usually want from a Pearl Jam anthem, but I feel like he is working out ideas and themes that he will pay off to better effect on future songs. I do think the all you need is love stuff doesn't work for me at all, and that's a pretty severe handicap. The second and third verses are pretty good, though


Cold Confession is wonderful. What a great surprise that was. A broken, vulnerable performance we hadn't really seen before, striking lyrics, great dying carnival music. I'm going to go listen to this right now.

I love when LBC finally soars after that massive drum fill by MC to the outro.

The guitar parts are interesting enough but these days the song feels like a chore to get into.

Cold Confession is hypnotic. I could listen to it all night long.

LBC, but unlike Stip, I love it when Stone sings. Wish he had a song every album.

Cold Confession deserves better. It might be my favorite song from the Avocado sessions.
