You Are is probably in my top 10

You Are has been my favorite song on Riot Act from day one. Definitely gets the vote here.

You Are AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Though, shout out to the bridge in Yellow Moon and the moment in Marker that comes out of the bridge into the 3rd verse.

All three of these should advance.

You Are in a walk.

Yellow Moon is my favorite of the three. You Are has a terrific opening lyric, and great music, but it's another Matt song diminished by his lyrics.

Marker is a good song that should have been great. It's one of the S/T songs done the most dirty by its production. I do love the sweeping U2 style chorus, and the angular verses. But I wish the whole thing felt cleaner. For a song about reaching for clarity it feels muffled, and I don't think that was by design

I legit love all three. Each is toward the top of the pile in their respective albums. But Marker is the only one I have in the #1 slot on it's album. It also has the lyrics that mean the most to me.

Gotta go Marker. But I'm rooting for all three to win!

"Yellow Moon" is pretty, but it's basically a discount "Low Light" with few of that song's charms. Being part of Lightning Bolt isn't doing it any favors. "Marker in the Sand" has a spiky, nervous energy that is offset by a soaring chorus and outro. It's a pretty cool song. "You Are" is simply magical. The drum machine guitar riff, the robotic rhythm, the piano in the bridge; it all evokes this dark, urban atmosphere, punctuated by shimmering lights. Another song I'd love to see go far in the tournament.

Think I have to go with Yellow Moon here, but three good songs.

Hey, I mostly liked your 2021 mix, though I never got around to saying so until now. Of course, I also never finished and posted my own mix. I'd say maybe I was slacking if I didn't know that my life has felt like it's in overdrive for the last several months.

I think I'm going with Marker in the Sand here, which is certainly an about-face for me from how I previously felt about the song. I like all three of these songs (particularly You Are and Marker), but the latter's riff is infectious, the chorus works for me in a way it did not previously, and that moment transitioning from the instrumental bridge into the last verse (and Matt's work in particular) is one of my favorite PJ moments on record post Riot Act. Like most S/T songs, I prefer a solid live version from 06 to the studio take, but it's still powerful nevertheless.
