A few moments ago, some guys from the county came in with signal detecting equipment. They were searching for the source of a broadcast in our building on the county's public service frequencies. They told me that they were able to trace it to one of our DirectTV boxes and that I needed to contact DirectTV to stop whatever signal was broadcasting onto that channel. What's this all about? What causes this sort of thing?

I haven't seen the county officials since that incident. in the meantime I've done some googling and can confirm that they are a real government agency.

Did you call DirectTV?

That would be some conversation. Imagine waiting on hold for 45 minutes just to tell some customer service rep that someone from the local government is suggesting that my receiver box is somehow transmitting illegal signals.

I won't do it. I do believe this will blow over with no action. Just such a weird thing though.
