The Economist wrote: America intervened to stabilise the global oil market. Scott Bessent, the country’s treasury secretary, said that America would issue a 30-day sanctions waiver for Russian oil on ships already bound for India. Mr Bessent said the “stop-gap measure” would keep oil flowing in the global market during the Iran conflict. Separately, America waived sanctions indefinitely on the German subsidiary of Rosneft, a Russian oil giant.
