Tales of your Graduating Class

Asher’s post about his classmate veep banker got me thinking about my own class. I’ve never had Facebook and have stayed in touch regularly with exactly one fellow graduate from my class of 1995.

Rather than listing everything I know at once, I’ll start with this gem. Once in maybe 9th or 10th grade I was on my way to the lavatory. I saw this kid down the hall headed in my direction. He was not someone I grew up with. He just sort of appeared in junior high. He was edgy AF, so when I saw him coming, I said, “Hey Luke, how’s it going?” As he approached, it was clear he was crying. He must have thought I was making fun of him. He grabbed my shirt, slammed me against the wall, and cocked back his fist. I’m sure I closed my eyes and whimpered. He didn’t hit me. He let go and went on his way. Looking back, I feel like I really dodged a bullet that day since years later he murdered 2 people by pouring gasoline on them and lighting them on fire: https://www.postbulletin.com/news/confe ... r-sentence

The year I graduated high school I'm convinced I was unwittingly the getaway driver for a pharmacy robbery. I took acid that night but it hadn't quite kicked in yet when this happened.

A kid I graduated with ended up hacking his wife up into pieces and hiding her remains in his Frito-Lay truck. He was always a good kid and quiet. Very friendly.

Conversely, another dude I graduated with and have been great friends with since kindergarten is the Chief Medical Examiner of NYC.

The kid who won homecoming king when I was a senior died in 2013. Cabin fire is what the obituary says (it also makes clear he was almost 20 when we graduated). He was cooking meth.

The cabin was owned by this piece of shit https://coms.doc.state.mn.us/publicview ... 985/Search who was a mechanic in the wood mill I worked summers at through college. I knew who he was previously because his brother died bench pressing alone at school in the summer and one of my cousins found him. Anyway, this guy is also currently in jail: https://law.justia.com/cases/minnesota/ ... -0841.html

I played hockey for one year in elementary school. This one kid was way better than the rest of us. I remember he was in my 2nd grade class because for show and tell he brought a car he made out of Legos, and I thought that bringing a Lego creation was a brilliant idea. At one practice we scrimmaged the width of the ice and I stopped a slap shot of his with my left hand. It was just a regular hockey glove and it hurt like crazy. He moved to a bigger town to play hockey for his dad. He went on to play in the NHL for 21 seasons and be a part of 3 Stanley Cup winning teams: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Cullen

Northern Minnesota.

A girl I graduated with had a tryst with MacGyver during her college age years. His parents had a cabin in the area and they met at a bar. Another girl was on the Real World: Las Vegas. She wasn’t a regular. She fucked a regular and did the walk of shame. Both girls were named Kerry, but neither of them spelled it like that.
