Gamer demographics

Post by Bammer »

This Pearl Jam(?) website has the following approximate page counts per thread topic:
- Switch 50+
- Playstation 22
- Xbox 5
- Zelda games 66
- Mario games 22

That’s heavy Nintendo

What band pages would have opposite results / demographics? I feel like we’d be similar to K-pop, One Direction, and similar boards. Which music fans are out there playing Xbox and chatting about it on their band’s website?

More people should be talking about Xbox.

I’ve noticed in this somewhat small community that is RM, it’s often a clear bias for something, in movies, games, music and more. Lots of people liking the same thing, even if it’s not necessarily the way tastes would be on another board.

This board is heavily tilted towards Gen X/early millennials, so it makes sense that Nintendo dominates. It was the gaming company for the majority of us in our youth. The first Xbox was released when most RMers were in early adulthood.

I hear that new one is pretty good. I'll grab it once the price drops.

I like all consoles and hope that all are successful. That being said, I am more impressed by the PS5. So far the XBOX exclusives are thin. I love Halo. Gears of War 6 is years away since they are currently working on the remasters of the earlier games. Fable hasn't been shown in playable form yet. I'm excited for Starfield, but it looks like that's going to be delayed again. But it's smart to move it away from Zelda - Zelda feels like the most anticipated game ever - more than Halo 2, more than San Andreas, more than anything else I can recall. The Nintendo love is earned - terrific franchises on what will wind up being the most successful console ever made. It just recently moved into #2 all-time. I do wish Microsoft handled those Sega exclusives and franchises better 20 years ago right after Sega exited the hardware market.

I'll happily talk XBOX anytime.

I bought the classics collection on Switch and played it for about 10 minutes max. I don't think I get Sonic.

It's interesting how Pearl Jam fans lean heavily towards Nintendo, especially with all those Zelda and Mario threads. It's cool to see such a dedicated fanbase for classic games. But yeah, if you're looking for a forum where Xbox discussions are more popular, definitely check out the ones for bands with a harder edge. Their fans seem to be more into those platforms.

And hey, when I'm bored and not deep into a game, I usually kill time playing solitaire online. It's such a simple yet addictive way to unwind. I can easily get lost in it for hours, just trying to clear the deck. It's my go-to for some quick, stress-free entertainment.
