There's a bunch on gremmie, as much as I fucking hate that site.

A good resource is http://www.gremmie.net/. Say goodbye to many, many hours of productive work time while you adventure through demo country.

And let's be clear on the definition of Demo too. Gremmie are muppets in that regard. A rough mix is not a demo.

Gremmie is just an all around irresponsible audio archive.

There's only very few legitimate demos circulating: the pre-Ten recordings (the instrumental "Gossman Project" tape, the Mamason demo, the "First Week Rehearsals" demo recording), the Nothingman demo from the Vitalogy reissue and Ed's solo Man of the Hour, Gone and Speed of Sound demos off the top of my head.

My disdain for Gremmie is well-documented but, as has already been mentioned, virtually none of what they refer to as a demo actually is what's normally considered to be a demo.

They admit to mislabeling "demos". Why so much hate for them? Just curious.

He does stuff like takes audience recordings, converts to MP3, and then hosts on his own site. No credit to the taper or source info for the listener. I've downloaded random shit from there that has been shitty quality, wouldn't be surprised if he transcodes too. It's just sloppy work, and he's popular enough that when you ask for a recording that he has people just say "go to gremmie" and it's harder to find the legit stuff.

At least I thought he did that with the London show from this year. I don't see it on his site now though.

Yeah, he has MSG 98 at a shitty bitrate with no source info. I hadn't been here in a while but this is why. That shit pisses me off.

The way I see it, Gremmie aspires to be a leading internet source for Pearl Jam material. Essential shows, "demos", one off covers, etc, etc, etc. If you're going to be that, you need to be thorough and responsible. Not everyone cares, I get that, but if you're going to be a leading source and you put out crap you end up pushing the good stuff into the background.

Oh yeah, the "basement". That's where the London show is.

I downloaded MSG 98 and looked at the first track. 160kbs. Seriously.

I can respect that.
