Let's talk about AI and the future of music.

With the Beatles releasing a 'new' song using AI we can expect way more stuff like this in the future.
This video explained how they created this new song.


Basically they had a demo tape from John. This obviously wasn't a multitrack so they used AI to clean up said tape and subtract the vocals from that tape. I imaging the AI added the frequencies that were missing etc. They used this AI enhanced vocal to new recordings aswell as recordings from 1995 with George Harrison.

There's a lot to be said about AI and the future of music. I will not be long until we have AI popstars and hitsongs. That's a real decline from creativity if you ask me.

What do you guys think about all this? I'm not sure how I feel about it all. For instance, if the next generations of popsong that will dominate the charts are all AI I think it wouldnt really sound that worse than the crap that's in the Spotify top 10 nowadays . And on the Nirvana example. Well, if they have an unrecorded song somewhere it could be interesting. Let's say 'Talk te Me', as far as I know a recording only exists as a live bootleg. Here they can use AI just like the Beatles did. They can subtract the guitar ans vocals as single stems. Both Dave and Krist can enter the studio with Butch Vig. Before you know it there's a 'new' Nirvana song.

That whole SoundGarden vs Vicky courtcase was basically about vocal stems. SG doesn't even need her anymore..

So many possibilities. What else can we think of? Interesting times...

Kids now don’t understand real talent. Nowadays a machine can do it all.

interesting to know....so AI can basically grab a mix and take out the vocals for example? thats how they are mixing new stuff?

the AI drums in Logic/Garageband are making all my dreams come true.

I feel like I'm pretty against this, but haven't thought it through.

I was initially against, but I really enjoyed AISIS so I don't know what to think anymore.

I find those AI covers -- like "Frank Sinatra sings 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor'" kind of thing -- to be amusing curios, but that's about it. I can see fully AI generated lo-fi chill-hop being all the rage as a study aid very soon

If The Beatles used AI to make John Lennon's vocals, then it would be a step in the wrong direction. But using technology to clean up old vocals, shouldn't be a problem.

However, I too can see how AI generated music will probably end up being hits in the future.

yeah, that was pretty dope.

Not sure if the AI does publishing. I mean.. what if AISIS becomes a hit. Who earns money from it? The developers behind the AI or the person we used it...

Imagine a band that can't write it's own song despite being decent players. They ask AI to write them a couple of songs, rehearse them and record them. Will they get all the royalties?

That new Beatles song doesn't seem that much different to how they made Free As a Bird and Real Love. This was an actual vocal that John Lennon recorded. AI was just used to clean up the recording. It's not like AI was prompted to create and entirely new John Lennon song.

Im not sure AI didnt do more, but who knows really

According to Paul McCartney:

A) he thinks John Lennon would have loved that the band finished the song.
B) George didn’t hate the song, he hated the quality of John’s recording, where they with PC help for those three songs even back then, they couldn’t get to the proper quality. But now they have.
C) No AI voice has been used, just technology to separate John’s voice from the piano and the other noise.
