Kiribati enters 2024
Happy New Year Kiribati! The Kiritimati atoll of the Pacific nation is the first to welcome in 2024.
The 33 atolls that make up Kiribati - pronounced Kiribass - occupy a vast area in the equatorial Pacific - nearly 4,000km from east to west and more than 2,000km from north to south.
Kiribati will be followed by New Zealand, which will ring in 2024 at 11:00 GMT.
