Re: React/Respond
Based on the phone capture this feels the least like any prior song. Love the bass on this.

Love the driving bass on this and the cool little angular riffs
This one was really interesting and with more listens could grow to be a favorite

Re: React/Respond
I’m legit impressed that they managed to make a damn catchy chorus with just the words react/respond…

The ending is the heaviest shit they've written in ages.
Heavy and convincing, finally.

Re: React/Respond
Yes the end is finally the type of heaviness I've been wanting since probably Avocado. They really let it rip there and Ed's voice is awesome.
I need to hear the official version, but I think it's a big grower because at first I wasn't into the React Respond chorus, but it's quirky and grows on you. The rest of the song has that groovy funky RHCP style riff, with elements of Whipping in the pre chorus, maybe the feel of My Fathers Son but better.
It's not quite the heaviness I wanted, but it will do.
4 stars for now

That pre-chorus is constructed in a really cool way.

Actually hearing the instruments, especially Jeff's bass, is really going to elevate this one.Clem Halibut wrote:Agree

This one took me by surprise. I didn't know what to compare it to from their catalogue. It took some time, but it's growing on me now. The solo by Mike is awesome. Ed's delivery on this is unique.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Re: React/Respond
I remember at one point catching some Radiohead vibes on this one. There was a Bodysnatchers feel to it (maybe it was the prechorus?)

Re: React/Respond
The pre-chorus reminded me of the Smile song Thin Thing and how it goes into its "chorus."bluestate wrote:I remember at one point catching some Radiohead vibes on this one. There was a Bodysnatchers feel to it (maybe it was the prechorus?)
