I actually put on my invetigation hat today and wrote to Sydney Showgrounds to enquire about the availability of Giants Stadium on 23 Nov (the supposed second show date). This was the reply - make of it what you will

Thank you for your enquiry with Sydney Showground.
Unfortunately, we have a large concert taking place a couple days prior and the venue will still be in tenancy on the 23rd

If you are after a stadium venue with Olympic Park, I would suggest reaching out to Accor Stadium.

Not a problem-o at all. If they open with Release for me I suspect that the last thing I'll be thinking about will be distance traveled or time taken or money spent. I will be a blubbing mess.

I think it means they're under embargo and can't reveal the second show yet. I just read on the Pit that some guy who knew about the Pixies as support in advance is confident of second Syd and Melb shows being announced.

You and Spenno should both come to Syd for a RM rendevous with me and LMS

If I'm one of the chosen I will be there.

Would love to but sadly the budget (and work commitments) won't stretch that far. Off to Broome for a birthday in May and Italy and Greece for 4 weeks in Sept/Oct, so this little additional November junket across country has pretty much hit the limit of my reasonable* travel spending for 2024!

*Its not even close to reasonable by the way.

Well originally, I was supposed to be going to Europe that week of the Sydney show. So plans are always changeable. With all the concert costs this year I am now thinking Vietnam looks lovely. The Paris of South East Asia I've heard. I don't think my kids agree.

Apparently Aust tix are $296 plus fees.

That’s basically double what I paid to see QOTSA this week and I thought that was pushing it.

There’s obviously limits to the comparison but it’s also six times the price of my ticket to The Necks next week and any bet I’ll enjoy that show at least six times more than seeing Pearl Jam in 2024.

Maybe wrong but, not sure tickets for these shows will be ridiculously hard to get even through general sale.
