Highlights from shows you’ve attended over the years…

Post by Bammer »

I did a little write up of each show I have attended. Let’s hear about yours.

9/16/1996 Seattle, WA (Key Arena)
- Experience highlight: Tie between meeting Jerry Cantrell in line before the show, and riding the rail on Mike’s side. I had bruises on my ribs from being pressed against the rail.
- Setlist highlight: Had to be the very first song I ever saw them play, Long Road.

7/21/1998 Seattle, WA (Memorial Stadium)
- Experience highlight: Went with a bunch of friends from my high school and it was cool to have so many of us there.
- Setlist highlight: I Got Id (which my high school band had been covering).

7/22/1998 Seattle, WA (Memorial Stadium)
- Experience highlight: Smaller crew for the second night … I had four tickets but only three in our group so I gave the extra to a homeless guy on the way in.
- Setlist highlight: Present Tense while smoking a cigarette with a buddy I bumped into at the show whose sister I had dated briefly.

Murfreesboro, 1994- Dock of the Bay and RITFW with Steve The Colonel Cropper. My first show. All downhill from there.

Probably the Dirty Frank bustout at the Gorge 7/22/06. I was 15th row center, crowd & band energy was absolutely on fire. What a night.

Not necessarily the best performance or anything, but the coolest "event"-type thing that I've ever been part of at a PJ show was the No Code full album playthrough in Moline 2014. That really felt like it came out of nowhere and was such a fun thing to be a part of.

The Binaural show is a highlight for me for those very same reasons.

Another memorable little “event” that I remember fondly was the pre-set they took turns doing in Toronto 2009 when the opening band had to cancel last minute. Ed playing “Needle and the Damage Done” and “Sugar Mountain” next to the CNE fairgrounds (where “it’s so noisy at the fair” originated) on a beautiful summer evening. Stone playing “You Can’t Put You Arms Around a Memory”. “Bee Girl” with Jeff. Mike also played a song.
