I like both of these, but they would have been knocked out by the vast majority of songs in this bracket, given how deep (no pun intended) Ten and Vs. are.

I appreciate that Pearl Jam wrote a song like WMA in 1993, and its lyrics and messages are surprisingly undated. Deep is huge, maybe their most violent, expansive song. But W.M.A. gets points for doing something different.

W.M.A. but I'll vote for any of the match 5 songs against it in the next round

this one is difficult! Deep might be the most inventive (certainly rhythmically) song on Ten

but, being possibly the best and most cutting political song they've ever written, the song where Pearl Jam said ACAB, it's W.M.A for me

Go listen to anything live from '92 or '93... no other song captures the pure energy and chaos of early PJ than Deep

W.M.A. feels like the most experimental and one of the most interesting songs from Vs. Deep is one of my least favorites from Ten but it’s not bad. W.M.A. is the better song for me.

I admire WMA. it opened my eyes and showed me a different perspective at a pivotal time in my youth, but, bluestate captured it...Deep in those early years was something otherworldly

Deep is good, but W.M.A. is better.

You make us choose between Black, Jeremy, and Indifference ... and then the worst songs on the first two records end up in a matchup?

I think Deep is just a really cool song.

“WMA” — great Jack-foreshadowing groove, hummable bassline, ever-poignant lyrics, and intense vocal performance. But the unsung hero of this song is the vocal melody, which feels vaguely Eastern and incantatory (especially the stuff he’s doing in the background of the intro and otherwise instrumental sections) in a way that really fits into the rhythm (and somewhat distantly looks ahead to things like “Arc,” “Face of Love,” etc.)

“Deep” is a great, uh, deep cut that like “Garden” I never really tire of, but over time “WMA” has really come to stand out as a special song.
