KD instrumental PJ cover

Post by Kevin Davis »

I've been recording some instrumentals over the past 6 months or so -- some originals, some covers -- using some drum loops and then layering guitar and bass parts over the top. Basically an excuse to hone my guitar chops and learn some stuff. Not really sure what to do with it all, but in the meantime wanted to share this PJ cover I did. A bit of a sideways twist on an old favorite a sort-of-old song that some people think is decent.

Forgive any audio anomalies -- I'm no engineer and my gear is strictly utilitarian.

I hope you enjoy it!

That was cool, you chose the correct twist, and it works as an instrumental. are the other songs in the same vibe?

I really enjoyed that, but I don't know what it's a cover of.

Thanks for the kind words all, I appreciate you checking it out.

Thanks! It's "Big Wave," from the Avocado album. Not sure what compelled me to do this one, exactly -- sometimes parts of songs just get stuck in your head for some reason and get you to thinking differently about them...

Thank you! They don't all have the same samba (?) rhythm but conceptually they're all in the same ballpark -- start with a drum sample, build up from there, then play guitar solo karaoke for a few minutes. Here are a few others from the same batch if you're interested. They've been really fun to record.

It’s interesting I was listening to avacado roughs on the beach and thinking how it would have been better with a more chilled Hawaiian theme..

Kinda with an upside and downside

Wasted reprise
Life wasted
Severed hand
Marker
Forest
Big wave
Let it ride

Only cloud in the sky
Cold confession
Open doors
10 billion years
Kd big wave reprise

Much better album
