Because one shouldn’t have to hunt through pages upon pages of random posts to discuss a specific movie.

I don't know if that's the only point it's making

I think it's also saying "it's a thousand domestic micro-actions that domino, until one day you wake up, the Third Reich is happening, and you've permitted it by keeping quiet"

fascism begins at home is always a message we need to keep saying / hearing

but yeah.. who doesn't know this? Why is this message more than 5 minutes long? should've been a short film

a lot of people don't know this, given that the internet is crawling with alt-right twats and "both sides are the problem" political fence-sitters

it couldn't be 5 minutes long because you can't fit a thousand boring domestic micro-actions into 5 minutes; it's a case of "the form is the message", even if the form pisses the viewer off

I just don't feel this movie would affect a person like that at all, so therefore who is it for?

well, if you need a person: their middle-class parents; this film is a cautionary tale to young white film buffs starting families, that yes, what they do and don't do *does* matter

but more generally, this movie is clearly engaging in (if not starting) a cultural conversation that we need to keep having, and is especially pertinent right now; I think that more than justifies its existence

I love these quiet, boring indie art movies, so I'm not saying I haven't seen this before (or even this done better) but I do think that the current popularity of "elevated horror" has allowed this film to become almost mainstream, and to be seen by people who never would have cared 30 years ago, and that's something I can celebrate; the market might be (over)saturated with this message, but that's good; things are exactly as they should be

I accept this, and thank you, but simultaneously hate it as a movie-watching experience and will never watch it again.
