Johnny Guitar vs. Take the Long Way

The best part of Take the Long Way is the backing vocals, though Mike's work at the end is cool. The main riff is fine but I don't love it, I am not in love with the vocal melody, and I've always found the lyrics to feel entitled, even though I suspect that wasn't the intent. I struggle with Matt as a lyricist.

I don't need an album of songs as filthy as Johnny Guitar. But I needed one, and I got it, and it kinda rules

I’m probably in the minority on really liking Johnny Guitar. It sounds like the band had a lot of fun making it (as well as fun making Backspacer as a whole). Although I think Take the Long Way gets my vote on this one. I love the tempo, guitars, and the vocals. I especially like the last part of the song.
