… I saw Pearl Jam live for the first time. To say it blew my mind is an understatement. To say it changed my life is a colossal understatement. We all met up at a friend’s apartment beforehand and as she lived fairly close to campus, we all decided to walk. It was about a 15-minute walk, so no big deal. However, it was an absolute monsoon. To this day, I’ve never experienced rain coming down as hard as it did that night. I’m still shocked my girlfriend and I even made it there as you couldn’t even see past the hood of the car while driving. But, walk we did! By the time we got to the venue, we were drenched. “Soaked to the bone” doesn’t even cover it. But we made it. King’s X opened and they were great. They fucking jammed. And they has a minor hit at that time with Dogman and the crowd responded to them favorably. Then this happened:

Sorry, it’s not showing up. Follow it to YouTube and watch. You won’t be disappointed.

After RITFW, at least half of the crowd, possibly even 2/3, of the crowd left, then they came back out and finished with Indifference. We filed out after Indifference and proceeded to walk back to the apartment in the beyond-pouring rain and then my GF and I drove back home. What was usually an hour and 15-minute drive turned into a 4-hour drive due to the weather. I slept on the couch at the GF’s parents house, then she broke up with me the next morning.

So, that’s my first PJ experience.

Ruddo will merge when he gets around to it because he is one of this website’s moderators.

While the timing of her decision certainly came out of nowhere, looking back, she was just tired of having a boyfriend, I think. We’d been together for 3 years at this point. She was still in her first year of college, which she moved away from home to attend. It was only an hour or so away but still away. And she was just tired of being “tied down” and having the commitment of having a boyfriend. It broke me for a long while after that.

Oh. I thought you meant a thread for this specific show.

that is awesome. Dock of the Bay is still my favorite cover ever. i remember my parents hearing this and them knowing the song and loving the pearl jam version. it was one of those "holy shit, my parents like cool music!" moments. the whole show must have been incredible.

That’s actually a good idea. We should have a thread for each and every individual show PJ has ever played.

As a kid who was brought up listening to all that classic Stax and Motown soul music, I knew immediately who Steve Cropper was and was thrilled beyond belief he sat in with them.

Wease, I can't believe you at this show! One of the luck few that actually saw them in '94.

Opening with RVM?!?! That is absoutely perfect and I had no idea Ed used an e-bow that early. The first I heard of it was from REM on New Adventures and then later in that classic exchange from SVT.
