All varieties of populism are positioned as among “the people,” in opposition to “the elite.” Left-wing populism vilifies the “economic elite.” Right-wing populism vilifies the “cultural elite.”

My questions to RM: How are these elites defined? It seems easier to define “economic elite:” you simply quantify earnings and assets. But how do you define “cultural elite?” And to what degree is there overlap between the two?

Our elite (plutocrats) suck. We need a better elite (aristocracy).

Retvrn to landed gentry with a sense of noblesse oblige (self preservation).
