PJ songs that grew up into later PJ songs

A while back I was listening to Riot Act and when I Am Mine played I realized that it was basically the grown-up version of Leash. It takes the furious 'Get out of my fuckin' face' and ages it into a more self-assured statement that basically means the same thing (others can't demand anything of you) without the combative angst. Even the structure of the songs--hovering around the same guitar parts and punctuated with a hugely cathartic and brief guitar solo--run in parallel to one another.
I think the same kind of thing could be said of Present Tense and Rear View Mirror. In the younger song, Eddie is moving on past grief but still knows it's behind him and in the wiser song he's truly learned to let it go and not look in the rearview mirror at all.
Anyone else have a pair of songs that follow a younger -> wiser pattern?
