Corduroy, mostly because its impact on me has been massive. Brain of J is a fine, and unique Pearl Jam song.

My protest of the cringiest of cringy lame sing along that now infects Corduroy, I will go with Brain of J, which will be a much deserving champion

I think maybe for the first time, I didn’t lose track and forget to vote in any of the matchups. I have a ton of thank yous to send to stip for organizing this every year.

This final matchup feels like coming home in a sense. Corduroy is at base the Pearl Jam song, the big intro, the epic opening line that’s opened 3 of the shows I have seen (and even more often the song that takes them from that slow burn opener into the stratosphere) - “the waiting drove me mad, you’re finally here and I’m a mess…” seems like everyone relates to that moment in some cathartic way. And this sails all the way through that giant jam at the end that elevates the song into the rarified territory it’s at.

Brain of J was one of those songs that existed in legend before Yield’s release as some lost Vs. era treasure. Given the sonic trajectory of the band on Vitalogy and No Code, the band seemed to be settling into a warm yet somehow rough around the edges band, and this blast after the “1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4” felt bright, fresh and unafraid to rip a new one right out the gates. All the fury of the opening blasts of Vs. yet fits perfectly on Yield. I may have seen Corduroy at nearly every show I have attended, but I undoubtedly wish to hear this one at every show.

A close one for sure, but for me, Brain of J takes it by a hair.

Which of these two has not won before? If both have, which one has won more MM’s? I assume the answer is corduroy.

Brain of J...I song I really liked the first time I heard it, and I feel like it climbs in my estimation every time I hear it.

I will wait til the last minute, hoping this is tied up, and then cast the deciding vote.

No doubt these songs are really ducking great... BUT kinda boring matchup, don't you think?
