Hypothetical post-2000 Pearl Jam Tour

Post by oftheearth »

I had this thought the other day on whether Pearl Jam would ever consider a tour focusing on songs/setlists exclusively written between 2000-2024. Understandably, most fans buy tickets to see them play songs from Ten and they average about 5-6 songs per show these days. Interesting thought experiment and was curious what songs you would choose for a 27 song set.

Would anyone come?

I certainly would. There are a lot of tunes from Binaural and Riot Act I still haven’t seen.

As long as they play an arena they would sell out.

I’d be in, but I feel like I’d just be box ticking, to be honest. At this stage what I’d really love is an acoustic tour - fun arrangements of standard songs along with rarely played gems like Alright, Yellow Moon, Otherside, Steangest Tribe, etc.

This was harder than I thought, my first tour was 2003 so I missed a lot of Binaural live.

I'd love this. This would work really well on like a "night 2" somewhere.

I would happily pay $200 a ticket for a set like that if they actually practiced and performed each song well.

I’d like a tour that included stuff from bayleaf/moonlander, cavedweller and ament as well

Maybe a temple of the dog/mother love bone track in the encore.

I think it would be great if they worked with someone like Sturgill Simpson (who rearranged his whole catalog to cut two good bluegrass records of the same material) on getting good new arrangements for an acoustic double album and then toured on that. I think Pearl Jam's real weakness as a live band is arranging things in a new way that doesn't suck so they would benefit from some help there. I just think you need to have some feet in the actual country to cut a good acoustic record so Sturgill Simpson would be a good fit.
