I feel like this is worth posting. I’m sure Burt will shit on it at some point. Sent this to some friends and family who asked how i was doing today:

I’m actually surprised at how many i keep in contact with that actually feel this way as well. Just thinking about guys I’ve served with who are gone and what they would think about our commander in chief:
• Despite never serving himself, Trump has repeatedly disparaged  fallen and wounded soldiers:
◦ Trump famously referred to Americans who died in war as “losers” and suckers."
◦ While in France, Trump skipped visiting the graves of American service members killed in World Wars I and II because it was raining.
◦ Trump’s former Chief of Staff has confirmed that Trump said he didn’t want to be seen with wounded veterans because “it doesn’t look good for me.” He also admonished senior Pentagon officials for allowing a wounded war veteran to sing during an event because “no one wants to see that, the wounded.”

• In 2015, Trump mocked Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who served as a U.S. Navy carrier pilot and spent 5 years being tortured in a POW camp in Vietnam, by claiming he preferred heroes “who weren’t captured.”

That reminds me of an Al Franken joke about McCain (maybe Trump stole it), but I won't post it on Veterans Day.

ANZAC Day is 25th April in Australia and New Zealand. It's our default and probably true national day (Australia Day is 26th January but sadly clouded in issues these days due to our Indigenous feeling - quite reasonably - that it excludes them and was more correctly Invasion Day from their perspective).

ANZAC Day is universally beloved and respected. Almost everyone wakes early and gets their arse to a dawn service to pay respects.

I can't imagine the fallout if one of our political leaders was on record as Trump is about our ANZAC heroes.
