Specifically talking about bands that dissolved too soon, not solo artists who died young.
The biggest one for me is Acid Bath (I know I talk about them a lot), who broke up after their bassist (and nearly his entire family) were killed by a drunk driver right after the band released what is, IMO, the best metal album of all time. Incredibly tragic for many reasons.
Also, I will never stop being upset that a record label torpedoed Scott Garcia's great post-Kyuss band, Unida, before they could even officially release their second album.

Antemasque was much better than the reunited At the Drive-In.

Leaning in on the tragedy side:
The band (duo) called "Her's" with only two LP's to their name, but (IMO) really good ones.
My kid and I were hunting for tickets when we learned they were in playing a small club tour, the Soda Bar in San Diego was next.
They passed away along with their tour manager in a car crash traveling between gigs. Tragic stuff.

Had never heard of this band. Just listened to Bleed Me an Ocean. That was pretty great.

I like them more with each passing year. I wasn't that into it when they first dropped. I was a fool!

Interesting thread. All I can come up with are bands whose original lineup dissolved too soon (Brockhampton, Black Country, New Road), or side projects (Them Crooked Vultures, Atoms For Peace and How to Destroy Angels).

Hell yeah. They’re reuniting in 2025 for their first performances in 30 years and I could not be more thrilled.

The album Release me is almost perfect. I saw them open for the Arctic Monkeys at First Avenue and their aesthetic and sound had me mesmerized. I’m particularly fond of the title track, Wishing He was Dead, and Fair Game, but He’s not a Boy is great and Walk of Shame’s keyboard solo makes me smile.

Broadcast is definitely a tragic case, though they were around maybe a bit too long for this thread. They released 3 albums before Trish Keenan died (of which Haha Sound is the best), and then the project went on a bit without her before dissolving.
