Because my son got a PS5.

I played the original Last of Us ahead of the tv show over Christmas break a couple years back. I’m doing the same with part 2 right now. After that, this is the plan:

Winter: Red Dead Redemption 2. I played part one years ago and made it to Mexico. Never finished. Both my kids (the other has an Xbox X) say this game is the shit.

Spring: God of War. I know nothing about this, but I have a copy. I don’t think my kid ever played it.

Summer: GTA V. I’ve never played it. I don’t care about online shit. I just want to do the story. Vice City is the only GTA I’ve ever played, and I loved it.

Fall: Hogwarts. This will probably be the end of my PlayStation time as I will transition to Switch 2.

Last of Us 2 done.

My son bought me the new Zelda for Christmas so I’m torn. I’d really like to do Red Dead next. Zelda might replace God of War in the original plan.

Echoes. I think I put 300 hours into TotK.

Finished Red Dead 2. Might need to do Red Dead 1 next. I bought Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey for $1 last week. I just did Black Flag this past summer. The game I played after it was Fenyx. This combines both. It looks overwhelming. I've been told I should play the Uncharted series.

I thought AC: Odyssey was really good. It can get overwhelming in the way that Ubisoft games tend to because here is a huge map with a million pointless icons. They load their games with filler but most of that stuff isn't worth your time and you don't have to chase it. Just focus on the core content like you did for RDR2 and you'll have fun.

That's some dedicated gaming, brother. RDR 1 might feel like a bit of a letdown after that.

I did everything in Black Flag. So much pointless box ticking. I think it soured my overall experience. I will stick to the plot in Odyssey and do side quests at my convenience. Not sure when I’ll get to this.

Didn’t we all listen to Bleach for the first time after Nevermind? -Graphics won’t affect my enjoyment, and I’ll actually appreciate a smaller map. I’d happily do this in 8 bit to kill Dutch.

Zelda is done. It will be a couple weeks before I can play much, but do I go with God of War or get into the Uncharted series next?

GoW is much more Zelda-ish than Uncharted, not sure if you need a break from the sub-genre. GoW was my favorite game on the PS4.

I started it this weekend. I don’t know how much time I’ve put in or how far I am. The witch just brought me to another realm. The PlayStation controller is still unnatural to me, and I never played games like Smash Brothers or Street Fighter so melee combat is a struggle for me anyway.

Kratos is a real hold-the-fucking-flashlight-still-boy kind of father, isn’t he?

2025 PS4 rankings so far:

1 God of War
2 Last of Us 2
3 Red Dead 2

Now I’m excited to play God of War: Ragnarok. Going to take a second PS4 break to play Indy next on my son’s Xbox, but then I’ll return for either Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or, more likely, GTA V. I’m having a great time.

Both GoW games are probably two of the best games from the last and current gen; however, the only thing that dragged down Ragnarok was Atreus. Too much Atreus.

Well, I just finished the Uncharted series in less than a month. I really enjoyed myself. The 4th was definitely my favorite. I don’t know for sure where I’d rank that one against the other games I’ve played this year so far. I’ll say this: I wouldn’t mind playing through all of the Uncharted games again right now knowing what I know. I won’t be doing that. I did just eBay the spin off game Lost Legacy, but it won’t arrive until next week.

Update:

1) Uncharted series. I played all 5. Every game was better than the one before it.
2) God of War. I will get to Ragnarok eventually. I hope waiting isn’t a mistake.
3) Last of Us 2. The show makes me want to replay it already.
4) GTA V. Fun and easy, but not terribly rewarding. I like the aesthetic of Red Dead more, but cars are faster.
5) RDR 2. I’m actually looking forward to part 1 and a smaller map.

Odyssey is for sure next. Because of how much I enjoyed Uncharted, I think the most recent Tomb Raider series will be after that.

I’ve heard of it. Why did you love it? I know nothing about the gameplay style. I’ve heard it’s pretty and has a good story. How does it compare to any of the games I’ve done so far? I’m interested.
