i...i know.

i'm more wondering about standing the logs that way.

i'd never seen that before. we in camp ellis, if not grilling which is simple enough, angle a fire so as to heat cans of soup. :oops:

I think their strategy is good, the rocks and that other thing holding the logs in place, but I would worry about eventually burning through and putting the fire out with my dinner- they are probably only heating and not actually cooking so as long as they get the pot off in time they are in good shape. I like it. It's creative and makes a good photo.

We've been known to use strategically placed rocks rather than logs for this same kind of set-up on one side of the fire. Good for the soup pot, the skillet or the percolator.

see this much i'm aware of and comfortable with.

the logs just really made me nervous... especially when you consider you just hiked up to the camp site and are hungry.
