De Palma at the peak of his powers although the performances of his lead actors leaves a lot to be desired. What has stuck with me since watching is the Wissahickon Walk setting and how he shot it. Just incredible visuals. I need to go on a De Palma deep dive now.

There’s a great interview with De Palma on the Criterion release. He relayed that part of the negative was stolen, which included the Wissahickon scene and big parade sequence. All of it had to be reshot! The two biggest scenes in the movie!

I’d love to know what happened to that negative.

I just watched this for the first time a few months ago, loved it. My favorite part was how Travolta was just ripping butts in the emergency room. Also, any movie where people use and manipulate 1960s/70s era tech just hits differently, I always find it cool. See also: The Conversation, and more recently September 5 (not a great movie, but loved the tech).
