Charlie Steiner's laugh is amazing

These are my 5 most impactful ESPN experiences:

1 Berman and Tom Jackson were peak ESPN. The music for NFL prime time is better than Soundgarden.
2 Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott were my Sportscenter duo in college. I was too young for Patrick and Olberman.
3 Also in college, I was a huge NHL junkie and loved Bill Pidto and Barry Melrose doing NHL Tonight and Gary Thorne and Bill Clement calling games with Darrin Pang doing interviews and bench reporting.
4 I hate Mike Lupica, but I really liked The Sports Reporters when John Saunders was at the helm. RIP.
5 Been watching or listening to PTI since its inception so Wilbon and Kornheiser are who I most strongly associate with the network.

Good list Peeps.
I appreciated Bob Ley and Outside the Lines more as I got older.

Berman and Jackson on Primetime were the best ever when we relied on highlight shows to tell us what happened before smart phones.

Dick Schaap hosting Sports Reporters on Sunday mornings and Jaws on Monday Night Matchup were good too.

The Scott/ Eisen duo was so aces.

I really loved The Sports Reporters.

I watch a sh*t ton of news from all angles and I love that a lot of them say its like inside baseball when things are crazy and complicated..

I cut my teeth on Olberman and Patrick. Stuart Scott was cool as the other side of the pillow.

I don’t get ESPN anymore, but I’m at a hotel and turned it on. Glad I did. Linda Cohn is retiring today. 34 years. Good for her. She held her own in a man’s world and opened doors for a lot of great broadcasters.

I always disliked Berman. I don't know his life/politics, but in the early 2000s he really rubbed me the Fox News way.

Mina Kimes is pretty cool, but I'm mostly basing that on her Pavement album backdrop choice.

I almost never watch ESPN nowadays but unexpectedly seeing her on a monitor at work tonight was a nice reminder of what used to be. Good for her for a great career.

It's irrational, but mostly just his aesthetic. Didn't help that when I watched sports center daily, it was at a golf club I was working at and the regulars wanted Fox News on the other tv. This was around 2003-2005. There was also the whole "you're with me, leather" thing that turned me off. Again, irrational, but I strongly associated him with the stodgy white dudes who came into the golf club, jokingly ordered "freedom fries", then tipped poorly.

I know I'm probably way off on this assessment, but you asked and that's how I felt when I was a young 20 something, mad at the media all the time.

Mina is great and you don’t need ESPN for her stuff. She’s very active on social media.

Honestly the only knock on her is the Mariners fandom, but no biggie.
