There's an ambient/drone band in your ceiling space.
do you have any access to it? like a vent panel you can take off?
i have a neighbour upstairs somewhere turns on some sort of machine around 9 every night and its literally like the loudest darkest lightsaber noise hum and vibration/hum you can imagine..nobody knows which apartment it is but we're all pissed off about it. you can hear it throughout the whole building.

guys this is so annoying and we are perplexed. nothing on google.com seems to know what it is either. i turned off the power to the whole house and it still whirrrrrrrr in the key of E. who should i call? a carpenter? just a general overall handyman type?

it was one of these, on the floor. not the exact one, but something like it. the noise was so hard to locate, you don't understand. my 6 year old found it! he's my hero, we said. i love him more than ever for saving our collective sanity
