So Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be on Broadway in Waiting for Godot Sept thru early January. My 24th anniversary is one of the dates. There is a pair of 2nd row tickets available that evening. Combined they’re over $1400. It’s insane. But it’s between Xmas and New Year’s Eve, and I’ve never been to NYC around Xmas, and my wife and I haven’t gone anywhere without kids since we spent one night in Chicago to see Last Shadow Puppets at House of Blues in 2016 (the only other time was 5 days in 2008 to see PJ in NYC). I’m actually considering it, but I’m also considering other things we could do with the money. Fuuuuck.

So….who has spent a dumb amount of money on something, what was it, and was it worth it?

man, where to start...
the first one that popped into my head was getting two tickets to see Pearl Jam and Robert plant for the hurricane relief show in Chicago..those were over a thousand a pop plus airfare and a nice hotel and drinks at Harry Carays bar..

when we renovated our place in hermosa beach my wife bought a kitchen faucet that was around 5 grand..

i just upgraded the sound system over the standard one in the new car we're getting for $3500 where there'll probably be no discernable difference in sound.

Spent $800 on a stripper in New Orleans when I was 18, drunk and fresh off the oil rig.

I stopped carrying so much cash on me after that.

in the military, after getting back home from Iraq I bought a new VW Jetta for $18,000 in full. that was pretty crazy. i subsequently totaled it and got all my money back and bought a $7000 kia

New siding for a house that was sold and moved out of a year and a half later. Not worth it.

my wife had a business trip to Rio during carnival years ago..the company paid for our flight from NYC and it was premium economy...we went to the airport to fly home and the line was about 2 hours long..we went to the ticket counter and bought 2 business class seats for about $3000 each..walked straight through to the plane with sleeper seats...worth every penny
