Listening to Broken Social Scene on headphones at a deserted airport during a blizzard, waiting for my long-distance fiancé's flight to arrive. Then waiting at the gate, seeing her come down the tunnel while smiling at me, then hugging and kissing her. I would have been like 16 I think? I still think about that all the time. That embrace is maybe the most intense happiness I've ever felt.

I think it was in August 2024. There was nothing momentous about it, I was just in London with a bunch of the most important people in my life and we had a great day together and everything went right.

I try to avoid experiencing joy. Just sets you up for disappointment.

The afternoon back in 2020 when decent sourdough bread came out of the over for the first time after a month of trial and error with technique. Just me and my family. The kitchen smelled so good. There was nothing but joy in the house. Our son wasn't even a year old yet. Nothing significant about that day. It was just...good.
