This is an interesting match. Two songs that are both grappling with what feels like the devolution of the world around them, and trying to grapple with all the ugliness that ends up revealing itself. But Grievance is hopeful, and kind of awakening to its anger and outrage in a way that feels generative and powerful. Dark Matter is angrier, more bewildered, and if not quite hopeless, isn't sure what to do with how it feels. More stuck in gear than Grievance, and drilling itself deeper into the ground as all that energy has nowhere to go.
Dark Matter, though

Dark Matter is my vote. Grievance is so good live, but there’s a slight clunkiness to the studio version, and Eddie’s voice doesn’t quite own it like he did on Letterman. Dark Matter is much better than people give credit.

Dark Matter is great, but Grievance is probably in my top 10.

More evidence that Binaural is one of their best albums.
