Im starting a thread for this legendary band. Got the chance to see them live again last night, and i think they were even better than the previous one. Perry´s voice was great, almost as good as in Ritual..and the band is always a guaranty of good music...i dont think Dave Navarro has the credit he deserves...i mean Three Days? WTF?

I used to blast Nothing's Shocking on repeat when I had a painting I was working on. provided some wild results

I like that song about slapping yourself in the face.

I love Ritual and Nothing's Shocking. I even enjoyed half of Strays.

Can anyone weigh in on 2011's The Great Escape Artist? I must have been doing time under a rock when that one dropped.

I didn't even download it, even though I also thought Strays was decent to good, while not touching the fucking brilliance of their first two propers. Then I missed my (hopefully not only) chance to see them in Denver. These guys were one of my touchstone bands in college.

Well TGEA is ok, i loved it when it came out, and now i feel its a good album with 3 or 4 great songs and the other ones are ok. It does sound good.

Strays might be stronger i dont know...but The Great Escape Artist have very good moments, Underground, End to the lies, Curiosity kills, I hit you back, Splash a little water and Broken people are all good songs...and the band sounds very very good.

You should see them live, they are on a very good moment. Navarro specially.

Downloading their NYC show in blue ray right now....should be nice.

Love me some Janes! One of the best shows I ever saw was them in L.A. in 1988. Ocean Size was so heavy. One of those moments you never forget...

One of those rare bands where what you perceive to be the least significant player is the most vital piece. Jane's are nothing without Eric Avery, I feel so lucky to have seen the band with him on bass. This band in their prime were as good as any rock band ever. They needed somebody like Eric to hold fort and keep the heroes in check. Plus that guys basslines are fucking boss.

Don't get me wrong, Dave Navarro is possibly the most underrated guitarist of the last 25 years (including his work in RHCP) and Perry in his prime is a fucking amazing frontman. But seriously, that last album they put out was garbage.

Seems like a short show even if Three Days (their best song) went on for 15 minutes. I love the first 2 studio albums. Strays was OK and I haven't even bothered with the newest one - maybe I should change that. Kettle Whistle is also pretty good.

Ill watch the NYC blue ray tonight i guess.

Navarro is pretty great. The fact that he takes longer to get ready to go out than Carmen Electra only knocks him down a few percentage points.

Their last genre defining record was well over 20 years ago. I don't give a shit who they're bringing in to hold them down, they're not replicating that brilliance again.

I dont think they tried with the last one. Its a fun album, with good songs and some other one half baked ones...
Its enjoyable.

I never really had much interest in this band until a few months ago I was doing a playlist for the Singles movie including the non-soundtrack songs and I discovered Three Days. My goodness what an epic tune. I've been on a bender trying to catch up since. Just finished reading the oral history 'Whores' which was pretty good. I'm not a fan of that sleazy, LA funk, metal vibe for the most part but this stuff goes a bit more astral and is a bit darker.
