This is too Hemingwayesque. And Ernest Hemingway is a man's man, t2b.

If by that you mean bi-sexual, I agree, he was most certainly a "man's man".

Spoiler: show
I admire it more than I like it.

Some might hate, or be frustrated by its lack of information regarding Redford: We don't know his name, or why he's out at sea on his sailboat. We know nothing about his family or where he comes from. He wakes up on the sailboat and there's trouble. He tries to survive. That's it. The only bit of information we know about him is in his opening letter. I think the letter's words are universal to everyone, so therefore I chose to fill Redford's back story in with my own life & memories. Perhaps that's the wrong way to approach it, but it seemed appropriate.

I didn't think it was wholly effective, and I don't know what to make of the ending just yet, but as I said, I admire what I think it was trying to do.

I like redford but he's been acting for so long it's difficult to let go of - 'oh, there's Robert Redford, acting...' when I'm watching a movie :/

As a director for Ordinary People. Beating out Scorsese for Raging Bull, which is a fucking joke.

There is a simple, but moody score that runs throughout. I was really into it.

I agree it should have went to Scorsese ,but I'm not going to knock Redford & that movie. Ordinary People is just a damn fine story.
