one of the few ways I dont mind eating ketchup...its just a solidified layer of ketchup..kind of like a fruit roll up..a place near here does that on their burgers

Making leather or "bark" out of stuff like ketchup, refried beans, mashed potatoes, etc. is a very effective way of reducing food weight (and reduce spoilage) for backpacking trips.
