Anyone else a fan of his? One of my all time favorite songwriters. He is incredibly hit or miss, but also incredibly prolific, so it balances out to a lot of great songs.

The early stuff. Dog Man Van, debut album, Fifty Eggs, Smartie Mine. What I've heard of his post 2000 is even patchier.
Estelle, Wasteland, I'm not the Guy. good stuff.

his best stuff was never on studio records. New American Language is probably his best

I got the Swastika ep and the album that came with (red cover/brown cover). It was patchy. His early stuff is pretty good though quite derivative. Might have to listen to some Dan to cleanse myself of the Oasis binge of yesterday.

Those tracks aren't bad. Can't remember why I missed that album.
This is my fave of his. Why say in a few lines what you can say in 10,000 words.

Those are three tremendous songs. Estelle is, I think, my favorite song about love ever written

Have you heard either of the official live albums? I got the NY one and it's a good listen but I've read they both compliment each other.

they're nice. I have a really massive collection of dan bern bootlegs that I was collecting until about 06 or so, many of which are better. The vast majority of his best songs never saw official release.
