Damn. I love this album. I think it is still an absolutely fantastic album from start to finish. Perfect companion to the story itself. Scratch pad memories and fleeting thoughts, fleshed out introspective and celebratory covers, wonderful mood journey.

Lucky enough to see ed play these songs, over 7 or 9 shows and really love them. It's a sweet spot I'm not sure he'll ever hit again but that's fine. He got there with this set. Grew into these songs and this album over time cos initially I was indifferent, but the boy done good. It's a great record. Even without the film.

I disagree with the "start to finish." It's a perfectly tracked album, except the bonus tracks tacked on to the digital version totally sour the mood. Here's to the State and No More are good songs, but they are built on such a different vibe.
Who would ever tack those songs onto the end? What a terrible idea. I recommend deleting those songs, or at least putting them in a separate folder that has nothing to do with the Into the Wild soundtrack.

I think I like this album more than at least 3 pearl jam albums. Hard Sun is still amazing, and a few of these lyrics are among eddie's best
'I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me'
'This love has got no ceiling'

On the other hand, No War is the only moment in the catalog for which it is appropriate to use the otherwise loathsome and irritating expression 'cringe worthy'

I don't think I've heard this CD since seeing movie. What a self obsessed, privileged lil shite.
Must break this out for another listen.

I agree, but don't hold that against the soundtrack

Here's to the state is a perfectly fine song for what it is. Like here's to the state, no more is a genre exercise, but one that is an insipid failure
