Albums of 2014

Post by Heathen »

2013 sucked big time (just ask stip) so it's time to move on.

The Notwist's new album 'Close to the Glass' has leaked 2 monthes before its release date and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Very Radiohead-esque electronic/pop kind of stuff, whatever that means.

Looking forward to:

Damien Jurado 'Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son'

Thee Silver Mt Zion 'Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything'

Nadja 'Queller'

Mark McGuire 'The Instinct'

Have A Nice Life 'The Unnatural World'

New Bums 'Voices in a Rented Room'

new The War on Drugs

new Swans

new Hauschka

I'll make sure to check out the new Notwist. I liked The Devil and You and Me a lot.

"Neon Golden" is a wonderful album, but I haven't followed the Notwist since. I should rectify that.

So far the albums I am most excited about next year are St. Vincent, Beck, Mogwai, and Brad Mehldau. Pretty nice schedule right out of the gate for me.

I think the only album I'm looking forward to or are hopeful that it'll get released next year is the new Tool album

Same here. I'm just praying for Lateralus part 2, and not a continuation of the direction of 10,000 Days.

What was wrong with 10,000 Days? Granted - Lateralus is an absolute work of art, but I quite liked 10,000 Days

As stated, Thee Silver Mt. Zion and Mogwai. According to her Facebook page, Carla Bozulich has a new one coming in March called "Boy." Tortoise, Do Make Say Think, Explosions in the Sky, and Siskiyou have all been working on stuff recently, so at least a few of them should have stuff out this year. I also know Sandro Perri said he was going to be working on a "studio tan" in 2013, so I'm hoping there's new stuff for him, either solo or the Dundasa 80 project, or both.

Don't you have high hopes for High Hopes? I'm tempted to get the Ltd Ed for the LondonDVD.
