Wish I could make it to this one. I really liked Berlin the two times I've visited.

God I hate their RITFW cover.
Great first encore though.

Oh no, I'll never not enjoy RitFW or Baba closing out a show; their continued appearance is strangely comforting.
Looking at these Euro sets, I'm now even more disappointed with the band's somewhat ill-fated visit down here earlier this year. Australia and New Zealand really got the raw end of the deal this time around.

Baba I love but I really cant stand the way they play RITFW. Grating.

Me too. I used to like it, now I actively hope for them not to play it. It's just kinda boring, and they play it too much. They still nail Baba, though.
I'd been thinking about how they didn't used to play RITFW so much, so I decided to look at some stats. They played around 100 shows in the Jack Irons era, and they played it 14 times. Counting today, they've played it 14 times in their last 32 shows.
I saw it twice in my first 16 shows (1996-2000). I've seen it seven times in my last 16 (2006-2013).
So yeah, they play it too often now.

I'm with speeno. I tend to always enjoy it, and even if I get it at every show that still means like 2 times every 2 years. I can live with that.
I do prefer baba, though.

Ledbetter is always nice because its just like saying goodbye. Or being tucked into bed after it all.
Rockin leaves a sour taste in my mouth. There is no groove. No intricacy in it anymore. The way Vedder sings it is super annoying to me. McCready doesnt even think when he solo's. Just goes as fast as he can. Sounds horrible.
Worst cover. used to be my favorite .....

as far as closers go, i still love ledbetter and baba. free world i can take, but the whole 2nd encore has become so predictable its almost boring. whens the last time they played alive in the main set? this show's setlist is great, i'd just like to see them shake it up a bit more at the end.

I agree. I know a lot of people hate Yellow Ledbetter now. And I get it: predictable, fan service, sing-songy, whatever. But that's part of what I like about it now, and I would take it to close every single show.
And I think you nailed it about RITFW. It's really just by-the-numbers, way too many Heys/unintelligible vocalizations, too fast yet too long. But I'll still jump along to it every time and do my best to enjoy the moment by telling myself it could be the last song I ever see them play.
But I think the worst is Indifference with the house lights up.
