This may be old news to some, but I fell off for a moment with the Peppers but discovered that they released a 17 song album from the I'm With You sessions, AWESOME!

They released those songs as singles the last year...two songs per single on vinyl.
This is the whole thing...i dont think i listened to any of those songs though.

"I'm With You" was one of my most-played albums in 2011 so I'm excited by this, thanks for bringing it up.

I haven't listened to or cared about the RHCP since Californication. It's just gotten really stale.

This is my favourite RHCP moment of all time. Frusciante high as a kite and having a tantrum.

In Anthony´s book is pretty hilarious to read the band reactions to that....after i read it i saw this video again and Anthony´s face is priceless.

By the Way is at least on par with Californication, and Stadium Arcadium is where they peaked. I'm With You is an obvious step back from the previous three albums, but I think I give them a pass for no longer having Frusciante fueling their fire. He's such a special talent, and you can tell he's missed. Having said that, I still gave I'm With You a lot of listens and it's still better than most alt. rock that came out that year.

i hate By the way and dont care for SA.

I was surprised with Josh. He is not John, but he is not trying at all to be him.
Its not just the "solo" but textures too with him.

I was pleasantly surprised with his sound as well. I'm looking forward to the next album, for sure. Despite their hardships, RHCP has been one of the most consistently great bands for the last 20-25 years. That's impressive.

Don't take this wrong, but why?!BtW I can see being bored with, because it basically rides the coattails of Californication, but I can't see hating it. And SA is sooooo goooood. A double album with nothing on it that I would consider just straight up stinky shit to fill the record. It may not be BSSM, but I still get a boner when I listen to it.

:peace:

Well By The Way is just too long...seemed like a cool experiment after a great album like Californication ( their best album for me) but its just too fucking long. Too many songs, too poppy..
And SA is the same, i was waiting and hoping they could still write music with some edge, and it all feel like a parody of of their earliest work..and again, too melodic and poppy.

My favorites from them are Californication, BSSM, Freaky Styley, One Hot Minute, Mothers Milk, Mofo Uplift, Im With You, and The RHCP...and most of their 90s singles or soundtrack songs.

Dont even care for those two.

Fair enough. To be honest I'm only a post-BSSM listener. I've never dove into anything earlier than that, and I know I should.

Those first albums are difficult...they sound dated, but once you get through them, they are awesome.

Specially Freaky Styley.

Mark me down as another that was pleasantly surprised with Josh K. Don't really care for the album, but his live playing impressed me. The bottom seemed to drop out when Froosh would go from rhythm to lead and Josh is much better at smoother transitioning. I think he has better control of his rig overall, too.

I'm a big fan of BTW and SA. SA could've been trimmed to a single but both are full of really cool tunes.

Which songs do you think should on SA : the single edition?

I made a playlist a while back but I can't seem to find. This thread inspired me to go back and listen to the whole album again. I'll come back later with my full list.
