Finally saw this. It wasn't bad, but it was far less intense are thought-provoking than TDK. Bane's voice sounded awful on the blu-ray, but goddamn if Hathaway didn't steal the show. Smoking hot and a good performance... a reminder of how bad a casting mistake Juno was for Inception.
I guess my biggest issue was that Bane was a much more 'comic book' villain than the Joker, who was written and portrayed as a rational psychopath.

I finally got around to seeing this last night. I enjoyed it, but holy shit was it overly ambitious. Way too many puzzle pieces to make it out without a myriad holes and "what the fuck"s.
I think I remember Chud saying how ridiculously weak the Bats vs. Bane fights were. I'd have to agree with that. The second one especially.

If the Batman Begins sequel had been on par with Batman Begins stylistically, this would have been seen as a huge and unprecedented step into "serious film making" for superhero movies.
That's not a defense...it didn't follow a Batman Begins, it followed a Dark Knight, and it wasn't up to that task. But it had a lot of powerful elements, and I was never struck by what a generic action film it was...I can't say either of those things about the technically more sophisticated Avengers.

There was definitely a lot crammed in but i was totally emotionally invested in Bruce Wayne/Batman/Alfred during this one. There were moments where I didnt know if Bane would actually kill the bat. Or if they would slaughter alfred or some other unthinkinable!
I thought it was just great and I would not have minded making the 3rd installment done in two parts...

Because a DKR thread will always need this image.

I thought it was the best one, overall. The first Bane-Batman scene is the best scene in any of the movies.

Looking at other films Tom Hardy has been in before and after this one. The amount of muscle he put on to play Bane is quite impressive.
