I Have Never Listened To The Avocado Album

Buying a Pearl Jam album was something you did the day it came out. Well, the Avacado album came out in 2006 and out of habit I bought it, but at the time I had no interest in actually playing it. So I never even listened to it. All these years later, I still haven't played the thing.
Now before you scream at me, think about what I have done. The fact that I have never listened to this album is a good thing. Imagine if you grew up in the '60s, bought every Beatle album, but never once listened to "Revolver." Wouldn't that be incredible to have an unheard Beatle album to listen to in 2014? Well, one day Pearl Jam will break up. Stop releasing material. But me, I'll have an entire Pearl Jam album to listen to! Long after they're done I 'll still have some Pearl Jam music to look forward to.

If you're expecting Avocado to be similar to Revolver in any way beyond them both being albums, you are going to be sorely disappointed someday.

It's probably more like being a Who fan, buying Face Dances, not listening to it till like 2000 and then thinking "Huh...This isn't very good."

Damn, you mean the Avacado album is not the greatest artistic achievement of an entire decade like "Revolver" was?
I picked the wrong Pearl Jam album for my time capsule?

I caught Mind Your Manners from the middle the other day on Pearl Jam radio and it took me probably damn near 30 seconds to determine what song it was, and which of the last 3 shit albums it was on.

Oh man, you've picked the worst album possible to do this. I mean, you're better off never listening to it.
The anticipation prior to the original release set us up for a pretty big disappointment, and you're adding so many extra years to it. Christ, if you
ever listen to it, have a phone handy with the depression hotline on redial, because you're in for a big fucking fall.
It'll be like meeting the woman of your dreams, sharing a wonderful life together, and then finding out she
used to be a guy.
RIP

Man, I have to tell you people I did not expect these responses at all. So I have an unopened Pearl Jam album -- an entire album of unheard Pearl Jam songs! -- and you are all telling me my future experiment of listening to it will lead me to depression? I screwed up with this pick? I should listen now and save myself future heartache?

They're all wrong. Avocado is pretty good. Not the best, but pretty good.

Have you heard live versions of the songs?
