I like both songs in different ways, but figured "Gremmie" could use the love. In a weird way "Gremmie" was one of the very first "new" Pearl Jam songs I heard, having gotten into them after "Vitalogy" and only having experienced "Merkinball" as a new release. Probably explains some of the strange relationship I have with the band's catalog.

Stone's backing vocals are definitely my favorite part of the Pearl Jam version.

Screw you guys. Gremmie is a fun one-off...a genuine, goofy, irreverent and unforced kind of fun, which is something this band almost never attains. It doesn't beat Help Help, but I'd take it over anything off the last record and a handful of other tracks that have won matches so far.

hearing the original actually makes me like Pearl Jam's more. Now it feels more like a fun cover.

I don't really get the impression that anyone besides Varis actively hates it. Even you admitted Help, Help was better. I imagine most people enjoy Gremmie for what it is though. It's probably near the top of the list of studio covers they've done that I'm most likely to listen to, behind maybe only Crazy Mary.
