"Comatose" rocks. But without any real explanation as to why "Someday at Christmas" is one of my favorite Pearl Jam performances.

It is a nice performance. And Eddie sounds good.

Comatose is one of my absolute all time favorite pearl jam songs. And i like someday at christmas but if it beats comatose it's gonna break my heart.

I'm with you on this. I re-listened to it for the first time in a while and there's something really cool about it.
This is a very close one; I think Comatose is a pretty underrated song, overall. But I'm going with Xmas.

Comatose is by far my least favorite song from the Avocado album.
I really like Someday at Christmas

I think "Someday at Christmas" may be my favorite Matt Cameron performance with Pearl Jam. It's a great ensemble performance overall, and yeah, Eddie sounds fantastic on it. To me it's also the final song chronologically that gets lumped under "middle period" Pearl Jam.

i remember when you made that argument. I'd buy it. Was it after man of the hour?

I definitely agree, and I'd throw in the newly-unearthed Let it Ride and Cold Confession. Is it possible those were done at the same session as Xmas? The first S/T sessions happened in late 2004 if I'm not mistaken.

It was. "Man of the Hour" was fall of 2003; "Someday" was the 2004 holiday single.

Reasonable. I think the 2005 tour was the true birth of "modern Pearl Jam"--it's still a transitional moment, but without a new album to tour behind (and maybe the fact that they were playing a lot of places they rarely play) they seemed to lean hard on the big hits, and it seemed to kind of dictate the feel of all their shows since. Good shows, though.

Someday at Christmas is 2003-era Vedder at hist best.

Voted for Comatose. But only because it's up against a cover.
